GROW WILD. GROW FREE
It’s 8 years since we found THIS IS US with a hyper local focus on homegrown everything. This summer we realized how far we’ve come and how much we’ve grown. As we met people at our London pop up, we acknowledged for the first time the progress we had made towards our mission of creating Nigerian made that folks at home and abroad could be proud of. We enjoyed seeing new and old members of our community rock their pieces with pride.
For Independence Day (and through to the end of the year) we are celebrating that spirit — the freedom we feel from seeing communities grow around our mission.
With our independence edit, we present something special: miniature art pieces on paper by our co-founder and artist, Osione in Nigerian green acrylic paint. We are also releasing two new signature “This is Funtua” pieces with embroidery detailing: the classic tee and a new long sleeve shirt to amplify our shared homegrown pride.
Osione’s pieces demonstrate his life long belief that art belongs to everyone and has the power to liberate our minds and bodies. Together with the new This is Funtua shirts*, the art (and our existing uniform wear) provide new mediums for everyone to participate in our humble but audacious mission. Osione is a multi-disciplinary artist and designer, learn more about his work here.
Our clothes remind us that we are free to be whoever we want to be, and grow in whatever direction we want. Shop the edit, and share your own stories of growth and freedom with us on instagram @thisisusng and by email: hello@thisisus.ng.
